Pa Thien

HERBS FOR HEALING

The Legendary Story

“Đỉnh Pa Thiên mây tràn gió quấn
Đá Pa Thiên ngự tựa linh đài
Cỏ cây xanh trẻ chân trụ vững
Giữa gió ngàn sương phủ khí linh sa”

Legend has it that on the mystical Ta Linh Son peak in the legendary Truong Son range, an unknown healer appeared, practicing a life of simplicity and compassion, treating the villagers with herbs gathered from the surrounding area. Miraculously, since the healer's arrival, the flora on the mountain flourished, and the lives of the villagers grew increasingly peaceful and serene. Whispers spread that this healer was a manifestation of the Buddhas, appearing to save the people.

To express their deep respect and gratitude, the villagers began calling the sacred peak Pả Thiên. In the language of the Van Kieu ethnic group, "Pả" means Father, and "Thiên" means Heaven, so Pả Thiên means "Father of Heaven." They regard Pả Thiên as a father who brings blessings to the local people.

Over time, the original name Pả Thiên gradually evolved into the name we know today, Pa Thiên.

The Majestic Of Pa Thien

“Trường Sơn Đông nắng Tây mưa
Ai chưa đến đó như chưa hiểu mình”
Pa Thien Peak, part of the Truong Son range, is located in the western region of Quang Tri. This place boasts a unique weather pattern: during the day, the eastern slopes are dry and scorching, while the western slopes are shrouded in mist and rain. Over the course of twenty-four hours, the weather on the peak continuously changes, encompassing all four seasons—Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. Consequently, Pa Thien Peak in the Truong Son range harbors an incredibly diverse ecosystem of flora and fauna.

Pa Thien is renowned for its distinctive and somewhat harsh climate, which enhances the medicinal properties of many herbs. As a result, numerous rare medicinal plants are found in this area, boasting therapeutic qualities unmatched elsewhere. According to a study published by the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, scientists have cataloged over 500 species of valuable medicinal herbs in this region. The government has also designated this area as a National Nature Reserve.

However, in the past few decades, the dense forests at the foot of Pa Thien Mountain have gradually become sparse for various reasons. The once lush vegetation has faded over time, the soil has lost its fertility, making it difficult to cultivate, and consequently, the livelihood of the local people has become increasingly challenging.

Year after year, blessings have finally come to the mountain villagers of Pa Thien...

Herbal Planting Project

A landmark event in the Pa Thien mountain region in 2000, a non-governmental organization from Europe came to the western region of Quang Tri to carry out a project to help the Pakoh and Van Kieu ethnic people develop their capacity and integrate. with the community on health, culture and society.

During the years of staying close to the mountainous area, project experts clearly understand the difficult situation of the villagers, especially the issue of livelihood. For more than ten years, they have called for organizations and individuals with potential and enthusiasm to come to this area to help people.

And finally, good fortune came to the land of Pa Thien as fate...

A businessman active in the herbal field, responding to the call of a non-governmental project expert, decided to go to Pa Thien to survey the land and climate to help the community here develop agriculture. After carefully studying the soil, terrain and understanding the living conditions of the resident community, he decided to bring herbs to this area to become the main source of income for the people.

In the first days of coming to the new land full of potential, because the villagers were not familiar with intensive farming but were only familiar with traditional shifting cultivation practices, the work encountered many difficulties. For three long years, that man did not hesitate to take off his businessman's shirt, put on a farmer's shirt, and live with his people; eat together, live together, go to the fields together, get used to intensive farming in agriculture and convert traditional food crops such as cassava and upland rice to medicinal plants.

At the same time, he also guides people through the farming process according to the World Health Organization's standards for growing and harvesting medicinal herbs (GACP process - WHO: Good Agriculture and Collection Practice - World Health Organization).

In 2014, with his first few acres of fields instructing villagers to grow herbs, he encountered many challenges: both working and encouraging people to try to get used to the new way of growing.

Every day, amid the harsh sunlight of the land known as "East sun, rain West", he and his people do not care about the weather, diligently cultivating land, planting trees, and bringing water from high mountain tops to irrigate. for the herbal garden, then the steps of cutting off the tops, adjusting the irrigation system according to each time of the plant's growth... different from the traditional way of farming for many generations, just waiting for the rain to fall, then plucking the seeds and waiting for the day to come. harvest.

During the years of extreme weather, the herbal garden faced storms and floods like many other countryside in the austere Central region, yearning to change...

It's so difficult, but the first harvest of the herbal gardens brings unexpected revenue, making people burst into joy. All the hard work they put in, in the end, they are rewarded, which is an increase in income. Five times more than growing cassava or upland rice.

Other households asked him for help, and he happily accepted. The medicinal growing area gradually increased to a few hectares, then several dozen hectares... lush herbal gardens emerged one after another at the foot of Pa Thien mountain, bringing a better life to the people.

In addition to the original main plant, Solanum procumbens, in the following years, the herbal garden has added many other plants such as monkey bone plant, hibiscus, black galangal, honeysuckle, sweet grass, millennium bale, devil's face plant, etc. Black alum tree... Most of them are rare and precious medicinal plants, with strong medicinal properties to help heal liver diseases such as: high liver enzymes, jaundice, cirrhosis; bone and joint diseases, gout, increased blood circulation; Balances hormones, nourishes kidneys and enhances physiology; Prevent inflammation, hypertrophy and prostate cancer...

In particular, after many years of researching and cultivating medicinal plants, he and his relatives have come up with a way to cultivate "increasing the active ingredients of herbs by creating pearls for plants". With this technique, medicinal plants are increased. The yield and active ingredient content are several times higher than with conventional growing methods. For many years, Pa Thien's herbs have been evaluated by experts at the Vietnam Pharmaceutical Chemistry Corporation, the Institute of Medicinal Materials, and the Central Drug Testing Institute as having the top quality in the country.

Thus, after many years of hardship, the project to develop livelihoods for people in the Pa Thien mountain area has achieved initial results.

Every year, hundreds of tons of herbs from here are brought to serve people in all parts of the country.

Following the success of planting trees, the GMP-WHO herbal processing factory was also built to maximize the value of raw materials from the Pa Thien mountain region into refined products that are highly effective in preserving health. protection and medical support at reasonable costs. The products are respectfully named by users: Vietnamese herbal essence.

Pa Thien Herbal Company Limited was born and grew from such initial steps.

And the man who was dedicated to the people of Pakoh Van Kieu at that time is now the CEO of the Company.
